The irony is that if you criticize the government for taking steps that reduce our freedoms and harm the founding ideals, you get accused of treachery and treason because you are threatening the current national security policies. So to be a true patriot, you are told to compromise and undermine the basic founding doctrines of the country you love. The more the fundamental philosophy is perverted, the weirder it all gets. I don't pay much attention to anyone preaching how I should love my country. It almost always comes with a not-so-hidden agenda.
