The point is making it sound as if Michelle was never proud of her country instead of emphasizing she is prouder now than before.

Still confused. If you want to emphasize that she was never proud, use the Milwaukee speech, where she left out the "really," don't distort the Madison speech, where she added it.

Edit: Unless you're on the other side and want to pretend she never left out the really and that the whole thing was a smear. Hmmmmm.
