Fiscal responsibility is a big issue for me too. It's one of the key reasons I won't be voting Republican in the coming election, even though I have always been a registered Republican. I've lost faith that the current Republicans (excuse me, I meant neo-cons) have any clue on how to run a balanced budget. In fact, that's just one issue. I think the current batch of Republicans don't know how to run a tiddlywinks game much less the country.

Another question for you about Hillary. Do you think she ran a deliberately negative campaign against Obama with her "kitchen sink" strategy? And has that changed your opinion of her at all?

Kate -

You may well be right about Hillary being better on budget issues than Obama.

I think what might work best for the country would be to have Obama in the White House, providing leadership, and Hillary in the Senate providing big picture leadership. I think her kind of wonkiness is actually better utilized in the Legislative branch. The President can only present a budget. It's Congress that has to refine and pass it.

I think Clinton be a great Senate Majority Leader. Certainly better than Reid, who doesn't really impress me.
