This characterization is all you need to read in order to assess the writer's objectivity. Nah, he's sly - the next sentence turns on the lefties in a way they won't expect, noting that America is NOT the cause of everything bad, the Islamists are independent actors. Incidentally, this is a style you see all the time in moderate Arab writers. They spend the first page of their article dutifully bashing Israel and America to prove their Arab bona fides, then slip in their criticism of Arab actions on the second page.
