not an easy thing to do

I realize that. I spent several years looking to retire to Canada. I had fallen in love with Victoria during a vacation there. My research indicated that they didn't want the likes of me. Not unless I paid them, that is.

But it is possible. People do it. Lots of people retire to Costa Rica and Poland. There are ex-pats all over Europe. Lots of Americans have family elsewhere who can support the move.

In any event, my suggestion wasn't necessarily aimed at them actually departing but considering leaving. I spoke of a matter of conscience. Sort of like going to a marriage counselor or an executive placement firm. In the process of evaluating the possibility of a departure, they might discover a hidden love or at least learn to "love the one you're with."

Well, heck, you can WALK to Mexico. People come the opposite way by that method all the time.
