Barack has a sense of judgment and he is very intelligent. These two traits, IMO are critical for getting a job done successfully and efficiently.

His team worked to narrow the big gap Hillary had in October. That should say about his ability to get things done. Yes indeed, hard work is a good trait but if I would trade intelligence and judgment over hard work.

Let us talk ab out experience. Even by Hillary's admission, McCain has a lot of experience, much more that Obama. Now that is Hillary's judgment. Come to think of it, McCain cannot discern between Shia, Sunni and Al Qaeda. I wonder he even knows what Muqtada's group is. Let alone knowing what Hanukah is all about.

So yes, as Bill Clinton said, Hillary and McCain would make a good pair. Ask Letterman and Leno that and they will give two thumbs up to that idea.

<<<Barack may not have the kind of experience you are looking for in a candidate, but to say he has no experience is to stretch the truth. >>>

He has one year in the Senate before he started to run for President.

They don't let quarterbacks start in the NFL with less than one year of big league experience. The same goes for pitchers in ML baseball.

You don't get onto the supreme court with one year of meaningful experience.

You don't get to be mayor of even a tiny city with a thinner resume.

I can on and on. You can't be a general, a police chief, a school principal, or even executive chef in a major restaurant.

Why should it be different to become President?

<<< You’re assuming that Hilary’s experience and the proximity of her husband translate into competence, that’s what they want you to believe, but I think it’s a dubious connection.>>>

She has been Senator from New York for 8 years. The voters in New York think she is more than competent.

As far as Presidential spouses go, not all spouses are equal. Surely no one thinks Dolly Madison and Eleanor Roosevelt were anything like Mary Todd Lincoln or Bess Truman.

Would Bill Clinton have been President without Hillary and her influence on his administraton could be debated, but to say that her 8 years experience as first lady meant nothing is ridiculous.

<<<It might be worth noting that hope makes the world go round, that there is no human endeavor undertaken without it as a prior basis, this is just who we are.>>>

That sounds like we should be looking for a Norman Vincent Peale to be our next President. That could work, but I don't think so.

<<<my sense is that the faith people have in Obama is grounded in their perception of him as a capable leader who demonstrates these abilities in the way he thinks, talks and acts. >>>

I had 2 or three college professors that were great thinkers and inspirational talkers. Maybe we should look elsewhere for our leaders. But, until that proves to work, it would only still be a crap shoot at best.
