I think everyone pretty much agrees he wasn't much of a threat- the only thing really left at issue is "Was there a good enough reason to think he was a threat to start a war of invasion at the time it was started."

I doubt history will judge the decision kindly.

Are you referring to the joint resolution authorizing the use of force in order to get the inspectors back into Iraq?

That's the only joint resolution I know. The purpose of it was to get UN inspectors back in. It worked and they got back in. They reported back that no evidence of WMDs could be found, and Bush yanked them out and went in on his own.

I believe it lists a whole series of facts and or conditions about why saddam should be eliminated.

There were no facts. There were suppositions on which Sadam could possibly be deemed dangerous.

The purpose of the resolution was to get the inspectors back in and uncover facts.

Suggest you watch the new PBS production of how we got into the war in the first place. No hyperbole, just shows the various leaders, their meetings and how the whole idea was pushed. The one person who was their source... Chabili... (Iraqi )ex,sp. was proved by the Germans to be a complete fraud but
we kept him on payroll for information on Saddam's weapons.

He just fed us what we wanted to hear and from all of his misinformation we went to war.

This two hour program will make you weep if you have feelings about how many lives have been lost and what this sticking our finger into a hornet's nest has done for the world and our country.

I think you can catch it on Channel 3.... anytime this week.
