It only tells me how stupid the political process can sink to, and pull everyone down into it. If you try to stay above, you are weak, and if you start to throw elbows yourself, you are nasty. Whatever a pol tries to do, their negatives will be driven higher and higher. I expect McCain to come in for much more of that this fall once the heat is on again. Especially if he gaffes in a debate or another big forum on anything related to national security. I could happily see the whole thing put on mute until the convention acceptance speeches. What happens in between won't be pretty.
