I don't like seeing either candidates' backers cheer any kind of negative statement about the other candidate.

As for Bill's statements about Jesse Jackson, I'm afraid I don't share your view that they were simply innocent statements of fact. I could see no other interpretation than "Black candidates have historically won this state, and Barack only won because he's black."

So I thought he was out of line in making the statement. But I haven't seen anything from the Clinton campaign that comes anywhere close to McCarthyism. I think such comparisons are also out of line.
