Do you think his opinion of what he generally heard in church is otherwise, and if so why? Because of the testimony of Obama's fellow congregants. Their enthusiastic response to the "God damn America" and 911 sermons shows those type of messages were expected, welcome, and celebrated. If Wright's other sermons were all "love thy neighbor" messages, the congregation would have been shocked and silent instead of on their feet and cheering when they heard the "God damn America" and similar remarks.Really? How about if I quote liberals comparing the church Obama belonged to for 20 years and is raising his children in to the Aryan Nations? How about if I question why he'd expose his young children to a hate-filled congregation that leaped to its feet to cheer "God damn America, God damn America, God damn America" shouted from the pulpit? Who cares what these mysterious "liberals" have to say about things? Because they show that Obama can't exercise leadership over his own supporters. Obama didn't call on Americans to understand Wright's 'AIDS as white AmeriKKA plot' as reasonable. Yet his supporters are doing that. If Obama can't get his own liberal supporters to stop defending Wright's hate speech as reasonable and acceptable, how is he going to be more influential with foreigners? Furthermore, if Obama couldn't get his close friend, Jeremiah Wright, and his fellow congregants to abandon their hatred of AmeriKKA, how is he going to get our foreign enemies to stop hating us?You are trying to make a statement about Obama's presidency (aren't you??), not argue with some mysterious unnamed liberals. I just did above. Liberals unwillingness to follow Obama's lead shows Obama is not a leader. As for exposing his children to hate speech in the church, again, what I've heard him say is the majority of the time what he heard in church was your normal 'love thy neighbor' stuff, so that (one presumes) is what he thought he was exposing his children to. If you think he's lying, please explain why. I haven't heard Obama say that so I won't judge him for lying. As for the normal nature of TUCC's atmosphere, I've already explained the congregations reactions to Wright's (condemned by Obama) hate speech shows they loved it. Thats pretty powerful testimony. Second, Wright preaches Black Liberation Theology as outlined by Dr. James H. Cone. Here are quotes from Cone's book - Black Theology & Black Power: "All white men are responsible for white oppression. . . . Theologically, Malcolm X was not far wrong when he called the white man 'the devil.'. . . Any advice from whites to blacks on how to deal with white oppression is automatically under suspicion as a clever device to further enslavement." Cone says the "white church" is the Antichrist. So Obama's church's basic theology is not consistent with "love thy neighbor" but rather with hate and fear thy neighbor if he's white. I think liberals are effectively calling Obama a liar when they defend the statements he condemned. I think you are arguing an unimportant point with no one. I don't think its unimportant. As I've previously indicated, Obama can't even lead his liberal supporters and keep them from undercutting his attempts to condemn Wright's hate speech. The issue in the Wright hate speech as it relates to Obama is whether it lessens Obama's qualification to be President of the US. As I said, if Obama couldn't get his close friend, Jeremiah Wright, and his fellow congregants to abandon their hatred of AmeriKKA, how is he going to get our foreign enemies to stop hating us? That speaks to a failure of leadership and influence on his part in a venue much less difficult than what a President will face.
