Well, I don't see either taxes nor the draft as a necessary evil, rather more as a responsibility of citizenship. Again, my objection to the draft, as it existed in the past, was that it was unfair: not everybody went. If we had a universal draft today, it might still be unfair, because our military could not accommodate all draftees. Some would have to serve in other departments. I believe such a draft would still serve our Country, and our citizens, well.
