I also saw that article saying that NEM was now looking at 500,000 oz projects. Surprising at first glance, but then we forget that 500,000 oz Au is now a $500M in-ground deposit! Not chump change any more, and there's lots of these in North America. So I suppose for a major to adopt a different operating model and set up it's own medium producer with ten of these things would be an interesting model. <g> Why not?

I think we're going to see major M&A activity during the next leg up. Of course if may start here where the prices have sold off a lot, but it always amazes me that big producers sitting on lots of cash don't grab more of the small to medium size projects while they're cheap. JMHO.
