That's about 15% cheaper than the 1950s technology homes in my neighborhood are going for. Until that discrepancy is resolved, I'm not buying anything. If it doesn't change I'll just build my own house.


it's really interesting what's happening with the $500 to $850K market here now....if you built a house in the early 2000's (or purchased one built then) from about 2003 to 2005, it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to sell those homes....you can build a house to your specs, colors, materials, etc...for approximately the same price....the prevalent attitude seems to be 'if i'm going to pay that price for a house, at least i want the opportunity to pick my own floors, appliances, etc...'...

the only exceptions are the homes on superb view lots.... the 'dated' ones are still able to compete with new construction price wise
