where do you guys live where you can build so cheaply? Its $250 sq ft in the bay area and thats for nice but basic materials.

Yes, you can get your costs down, but you have to put in the sweat equity to do it. I've built a few homes. I didn't make much money while I was doing it but it was very satisfying. Sounds like phenomenal property. Good luck in your new home.
