Church Cancels Appearance By Obama's Pastor POSTED: 7:24 am EDT March 26, 2008 UPDATED: 7:50 am EDT March 26, 2008 TAMPA, Fla. -- The former pastor of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama will not appear at a Tampa-area church this week. Church officials said Rev. Jeremiah Wright's three-day appearance at the church was canceled because of security concerns. Wright's appearances were supposed to start on Tuesday. Wright was Obama's pastor at a Chicago church, and some of his previous sermons received criticism. Obama has renounced Wright's statements. Rev. Earl Mason of the Bible-Based Fellowship Church of Temple Terrace said sheriff's officials told him they couldn't provide certain security for Wright's visit.
