Watching Hillary on the stump reminds me of the days of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (Benazir's father) when he campaigned for the Presidency of Pakistan. He was very dramatic. Once he tore open his shirt right in front of the crowd to challenge General Zia, who was then the military chief who went to become President himself through a violent military coup.

Those are third world politics and it is very unfortunate that this country is sliding down that path. A common accolade from the pundits is that Obama spoke to us like adults when he delivered his speech on race. He was very poised and looked into the camera and in people's eyes. He didn't raise his finger, or did not keep his chin raised up and look down to speak. Maybe that is one of the reasons that gave people the feeling that he spoke to us like adults.

Steve,

<< If you are not getting the news you want - change the channel. To think in todays market that the news is somehow manipulated is something I just do not buy into. >>

Another thing we will have to agree to disagree on. But case in point with your trying to watch a full version of Obama's speech. You said you were unable to find a channel that was carrying the speech. You changed the channel and didn't find what you were looking for.

The control of the media has continued to be more centralized, a process that has been significantly accelerated under the present administration. One company can now own the tv stations, the newspapers as well as several of the radio stations in single markets. In addition to that, I see the media acting like packs of animals, picking up the same story with the same slant. This mentality helped BC in 92, helped Bush in 2000 and is helping Obama now.

Again, that is just my opinion from my vantage point.
