I would guess about 1/3 of those used a home equity line of credit or their credit cards.


I hate to tell you this but using cash to buy an airline ticket is the fastest way to get yourself on a watch list, even for domestic flights. That and buying a one way ticket to anywhere.

I don't doubt that most vacations were financed by all the "wealth" accumulating in people's houses -- soaring house prices took the sting out of inflation -- now the sting feels twice as painful as inflation roars ahead and housing takes a nosedive. Same with the SUV, the widescreen TV, and the little shopping spree at the mall.
