People like to have villains to hate. It is tempting and comforting to blame ones problems on them. Yes, poor whites are such a convenient scapegoat. His comments are not okay.......but its not bad to try and understand them. Furthermore, its not bad to be angry at your country and to disparage your country when its not doing the right things. I don't think his comments are okay for a minister speaking from the pulpit just as I don't think white ministers should preach fire and brimstone from the pulpit. Secularization and coarsening of popular culture - much of the rap/hiphop trash which markets immorality and irresponsibility w/h/b banned or censored at one time. And the spread of the victimization culture and de-emphasis of personal responsibility. In other words, liberalism happened. Liberalism hurts the poor the most. Of course, blame it on liberals. You guys are never responsible for any of the crap that goes on in this country. The things I cited can't be laid at conservatism's door.
