Right you are - For units that have been publicly trading before October 2006, in tax year 2011, the income trust and it's investors will be treated more like corporations and shareholders.

Recent new states Trans Force is looking to convert back to a corporation.

From Dow Jones Newswire March 28, 08

TransForce Income Fund (TIF.UN.T, C$7.45, -C$0.34, -4.4%) plans to convert back into a corporation and establish an annual dividend of C$0.40 a share. It said it considered a number of restructuring alternatives.

So - A $0.40 dividend works out to around 5% at present valuation.

Interesting to see the unitholder vote results on May 12.
