I stand corrected. I must be slipping. Very dangerous tot he wallet.

I guess I associated the large and well known crude production decline in Cantarell with a gas production decline.

Isn't it the case the the gas cap comes off first?? Of course if you pull the crude from the bottom, then you won't produce the gas, and the gas pressure serves to bring the oil to the surface.

I will shift focus to thwart my embarrassment to suggest that if they are producing the gas, then they are willing to accept even larger declines (defeat) in crude production. Pemex isn't know for reinvesting in production, rather spending on social programs.

The last I heard, Mexico was still a net gas importer from the United States.
