Ukrainian families that emigrated to North America still have a genuine hatred of Russians after 100 years but Ukrainians today in the larger centers don't.

Russians in the western part of Ukraine going into the Carpathians are not really accepted as part of the scenery.

You don't need every government in the world to make the same mistakes, or even every government in the world to make mistakes, you just need enough of them making bad enough mistakes.

Trade wars, money supply issues (tightening going in to a downturn in the US, and I think the UK, hyper-inflation in Germany in the 20s helping to set up other types of economic problems later, etc.).

Which doesn't mean that without negative government intervention there would not have been a downturn, but certainly governments played a big part in it being so bad.
