I've actually never been to the Steens. Our artist friend that spends a week there every summer was here for 4 days........left yesterday...........and he's the one who told me about it. He takes tons of pictures when he's there and then does his magic with pastels, and water colors. He's getting near retirement, and is so looking forward to having the time to paint. The Steens area is one of his favorite subjects. With the price of fuel, I'm not sure If I'll ever get there.
