I thought that we as a nation wanted to be and project the essence of self-control, civility, and restraint in public discourse. Cheney did his cause a great disservice that day. I have a buddy who swears that Geraldine Ferraro deliberately slipped her racial remark (Obama has only gotten this far because he is black) to see if they couldn't get Obama to bite and make an a*& of himself. Geraldine was (or allowed herself to be ) used as a sacrificial pawn. The same fellow swears that "W" pulled the same BS and hung some bait in front of McCain in 2000, and McCain latched hold and showed a really nasty temperamental streak. I suppose that our beloved leaders have a staff of about 100 dedicated to finding every little flaw of the opponent and figuring ways to expose or take advantage. Conspiracy theories aside, Obama handled himself extremely well. I still don't favor his soak the rich, Robin Hood policies. He is probably a good egg. Hillary is vicious.
