Those cuts would be tough to get, especially the 25% cut in Iraq.

If I were making the budget, I'd FIRST say that Social Security is STILL in the black and the ONLY reason it's in trouble is that we use the funds in it to pay for everything else. I would make Social Security a completely SEPARATE fund able to invest on its own and THAT would eliminate the whole Social Security problem. At least for the next 100 years or so.

That would be a good start. It would also give our National Legislators a HEADS UP about having to PAY for things in the "here and now" and now just try to shift funds around from one program to another to make ends meet.

The U.S. and its Citizens have been living on BORROWED MONEY for TOO long.
