No, I was being serious. Why should private agencies which have proven themselves time and again to be coopted by the entities they oversee be allowed to have a watchdog function?
Moving these to the Fed would have just that effect.

In other words I think the Fed needs less power (preferably needs to be rescinded altogether). Therefore this is a step in the wrong direction. "Market stability regulator"? Only if markets are dropping, apparently, where was the 'regulation' while the housing bubble was raging?
