It's a very fluid situation, it would seem. Iran's influence is very strong (maybe never been stronger) and our "chosen" guy, Maliki, is weakened. If the elections were held tomorrow Iran's power in the parliament would be substantial through its proxies. Their influence in the Basra region, with all that oil, could disrupt further nationbuiliding efforts. The Sunnis won't like any of this, so they could feel betrayed. The kurds will hole up in the North and keep what they have...
