Theoretical question for ya. I accumulate or own a lot of the yellow metal (Fort Knox, which in reality may be empty, of course). USA is first in the world to return to the gold standard. $2,000 USD per ounce. That would make a lot of our debt around the world relatively worthless, provided of course we had ample gold reserves to back up such an exchange rate?

Well, this is how it works:

-Declare Armageddeon, and make some interesting assets along the way a steal
-Lower Rates and fill people up with clown bonds
-declare a new Gold standard "an ounce a day keeps the hunger away"
-Sucker in a lot of shorts at already deflate prices...
-sell inflated puts to the others

but then, as elections approach

-expand the TAF facility indefinitely
-hike the rates
-collect put premiums and buy stock
-abolish the clownbuck system

in the process

-ensure that clowns are appointed at all other CBs
-teach them how to efficiently devalue a currency
-make them buying clownbucks as needed
