They are basically insurance companies. Some are good and many are not. You'll find some that are so bad that the repair facilities won't even accept them and tell you to pay and try to collect from them. It's a real dog eat dog world on these things and unfortunately your kind of need to rely on your dealer having done his due diligence to be selling a quality product.

I still get "offers" to extend the warranty on my '04 Buick. Of course they go straight to the shredder.
