Is Harold IcKes barking up a wrong tree when he points to Rev Wright's impact to Obama's chances during the General Elections. If McCain is going to throw the 527s under the bus like he did to Cunningham in Ohio, then the 527s will die. After all McCain has fought against the 527 law in the Senate. And my sense is that he will confront them during the elections. Obama will do the same. Hillary would not have any moral authority to oppose them, since she has already adopted the "kitchen sink strategy", a strategy of the 527s.
