I think the answer to your question lies in "who" makes the iphone for AAPL. If the phone is made by one of the members of the GSM cabal then GSM royalty is irrelevant. If it is made by an outsider who is not in the GSM cabal, then perhaps royalties may be a cost factor in the price of the phone.
