Apple and Rimm do it by moving up the foodchain to value added services (music/movies or e-mail). LG and Samsung survive (to this point anyway) on volume.

yes, they are paying 16% in some companies. this is why the royalty swaping is also like locking them out of the market, as there is no level playing field right now.

You don't have any patents, you pay. You pay ALOT. Yo uhave a blocking patent and want to trade, you pay less. Not many people pay less than 5% for GSM right now. Only the top few pay less.
