It's beyond nuts. The homebuilding industry, more than any other promoted, enabled and facilitated the housing bubble. They should cut out the 2 years and double the taxes on all of 'em, we don't need more houses built right now. Quite the contraray!

This guy (in the WaPo story JM linked) said it best:

"Basically, you're giving money to builders that overbuilt and banks that issued bad loans," said Dean Baker, co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research. "It's giving money to the villains in this story."
