In his own conference call with reporters, Biden, who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, offered a preview of what to expect in a series of hearings in the next few weeks on the subject of Iraq.

Sen. Biden stated that he had two “basic questions” that he wants answered through these hearings. “The first is, ‘What has the surge accomplished?’ And the second is, ‘Where do we go from here?’”

With regards to the testimonies of Ambassador Crocker and General Petraeus, Biden said that he only had one question for them, “What next?”

When asked how the current situation in Iraq would affect the elections in November, Sen. Biden criticized President Bush for what he calls the administration’s attempts to “muddle through and hand the problem off to the next president.”

The hearings on Iraq before the Committee on Foreign Relations will begin on Wednesday, April 2 and will conclude Tuesday, April 8 with the testimonies of Ambassador Crocker and General Petraeus.
