It was eight years between the WTC bombings of 1993 and 2001. The truth is that we don't get hit a lot in general.

Shortly after 9/11, there was a poll taken in which Americans overwhelmingly believed we would be hit again within the next few years. Meaningless? Perhaps.

But the entire point of terrorism is to cause the target population to live in fear of another attack. I am not living in fear, and clearly, you aren't either. In that respect, 9/11 was a failure, and I believe it is due in large part to Bush's decimation of the organization which hit us. They've successfully hit England, they've hit Spain, they've tried to hit here, and they haven't been able to do so.

At this point, the "organization" is so disrupted from having to be on the run that they haven't been able to make another strike happen.

I understand, however, that the Leftists don't believe this -- before the war began, I made the point that the big battle was in keeping the Left focused on the problem at hand -- that this war would be very long-term in nature, and after a couple years, the liberals would want to return to business as usual. This is precisely what has happened.

You guys don't want to give Bush a break, and I understand that because liberals are all about political power. But he had a tough job -- to protect America while respecting the Constitution -- a very difficult line to walk. He has done it fairly well IMO.
