"All American weaponry should be made in the USA."

As the largest manufacturer of military hardware on the globe... we probably have the option of doing that.

Question is: would that be so wise?

For certain extremely sensitive strategic systems it could be prudent.... Still --- were we to have a blanket ban on *all* foreign purchases in the military/industrial area --- then it's most CERTAIN that the US would face all kinds of trade barriers and outright bans on American sales in LOTS of countries... and in LOTS of different industrial sectors.

Such a result likely would *weaken* our national security by weakening our economic base (not to mention raising costs for our military purchases... meaning that, for a given amount of dollars, we could wind-up purchasing LESS of military products.)
