Are you kidding me? The neocons (that's funny, "whoever they are" ... yeah, like it's REALLY hard to identify these guys), and US geostrategic planners have factored in the Alberta Oil Sands for almost two decades for sure. From the beginning of the Klein government.

The Alberta Oil Sands, after all, are a key part of the Grand Chessboard ... and I assure you that American geostrategic planners have considered it such for many years.

In fact, being from Alberta, it was always my these that that American "hidden hands" had a role in starting Preston Manning's Reform Party. Nothing I can prove, it just makes sense from a "pattern" perspective IMO.
