Buddy, could you show us a reliable link that shows for sure that "prewar Pentagon (who?) wanted a larger troop force to occupy Iraq after it was toppled".....I have seen no such report from the Pentagon. Officially.

I seem to remember that Colin Powell criticised the plan for not having a large enough liberation force and I don't recall him being critical of the size of the police force. He may have changed his tune later to take advantage of the new opportunity.
