The Japanese way is not possible. Japan, post crash, has been the largest creditor of foreign currency. They hoarded trillions in dollars and European currencies so they could easily set the rate to 0, borrow in and dilute their own currency for years.

The US is not in the position to do the same.

I'd say there is only one way out of this mess: Raise taxes. Why do you think the fed should solve this problem?
