Last year, I heard that familiar knocking sound and went outside to see where he was. Across the street, drilling on my neighbors gable. He already had a good start toward gaining access to her attic. Can you imagine what a mess that would quickly become? I chased it off, but every time I went back inside, he returned. About that time she came home and I told her about it. I told her to get me a tin lid from a coffee can. I got my ladder and with duct tape, put the lid over the 4 inch wide nearly complete opening. The bird came back a few times, pecked on the lid and finally gave up. The HOA came out a couple days later and replaced that panel. Bird hasn't been back that I know of. We really had problems last spring. Not so this year, so far. They seem to be hard to discourage.
