Hi blazenzim.
I'm sure you probably hate me by now as I have responded quite satirically to some of your previous posts. But I wanted to reply respectfully to some of the comments you made in your last past.
((Frankly, I think this board could use more diversity and action.))
I personally place great value on diversity of opinion. I think most that contribute to this board do.
((I respect George Carlin. He speaks the truth in a very direct but crude manner and hates political correctness.))
I also value bluntness and straightforwardness in people and communication. I don't like sugar-coating either. Oh, and George Carlin is hilarious!
((I probably cannot change my style to please most people here))
That being said, I value "respectful dialog" more than either of the above two values. And it has always been a value that had been promoted on this forum.
I mean, there's a certain "tone" in your communication that I don't wish to see on this board. You've stated in recent posts: "[Russ] seems to have totally lost it. His analysis has gone from level headed clear to bizarre." and "[Russ], you are working very hard to learn a foreign language and get approval for permanent residency. In my opinion, there are only 2 reasons why an older man does this.....sex and money." and "Glenn's Bin Laden Loving, Anti-American rant".
I find in these comments a total lack of respect for the dignity of the other person, and respect for other views in these comments. Now, you may feel this way, and that is your right. But, it is not an obligation of this forum to let you air your views in this manner. I, for one, would rather lose whatever insight you bring to the table, in the interests of respectful discourse.
If you feel you cannot "change your style" to be respectful of others on this board, then perhaps this is not the forum for you. It might not be a good "fit".
((What I can do is promise to stay on topic. I don't care about the Jews, Zionism, Bin Laden, Iraq war, etc. unless it has a direct connection to the credit bubble.))
Well, YOU may not care about geopolitical matters, or see their connection to the global financial realm, but others do, including myself, and Russ for example.
To clarify, I realize geopolitics is somewhat tangentially related to the topic of the Epic Credit Bubble that the Fed has engineered. Therefore, I try to keep my posts on this topic to the weekends, and continually reality-check to ensure that a core constituency of this forum is interested in my posts.
If the feedback I received was that long-standing contributors of this forum did not wish to have such perspectives posted on this forum, I'd be more than willing to cease posting on such matters. As it happens, I've received some very position communication from members of this forum.
((There is little value to be gained in reading the same old 8 to 10 regulars who are mostly victims of "the boyz", "the Pigmen" and all of the other powers that be. Whining and complaining are a waste of time.))
Says who? Who do you think you are to come onto this board and tell its members what its "spirit", "topics of interest", and "culture" should be? A forum's ethos, its culture, arises organically from the community who participate in it. TH is the moderator of the forum's "ethos" or "spirit". He is the forum's custodian. You can seek to contribute to, or "shape" the culture of this forum by participating in it. But it is not for you to "define" what the interests of this forum should be.
Furthermore, Russ was the founder of this forum. And to a significant extent, his influence lives on in this "spirit" of this forum. As matters would have it, many on this forum are interested in "the boyz" and "Pigmen" of which Russ writes. Now if YOU are not interested, so be it. You don't have to participate in the discussion.
((Is it all about money? Yes. This is a board about money. ... All we can do is try to forecast how it plays out and exploit it for our personal gain.))
Money is one of the things this board is about, in the sense that "money" and "credit" are very related topics. I see no where in the introduction to this forum where it says that this forum is about "making money". Now obviously, we are probably all investors, who are interested in gleaning insights to make us more successful in our investing, and in protecting our capital in this "credit bubble" period.
But the sole emphasis you appear to place on personal gain may not be shared by all participants on this forum. And again, it is not for you to TELL the participants of this forum what the forum SHOULD be about. Stick around for a few years, and then perhaps your opinion will carry more weight.
Personally, I come to this forum to learn - to learn about the Credit Bubble, to learn about its underlying dynamics, to learn about the reason it came about in the first place, and to learn what "powers" are responsible for its creation. I also come to learn about its inflationary impacts on the economy, what asset classes will benefit or suffer from such impacts, etc. And, to engage in dialogue with others to contribute what I can, and gain from their insight and experience. That's why I come to this forum.
Hopefully, if you care, this helps explain my position.
Respectfully, Glenn |
