The real solution for corruption and criminal activity that
always arises around the printing press seems to be for
us to shut down the Fed and to return to the gold standard.
The currency crises were never an issue. If a country ran
a deficit, its gold simply disappeared until it ran a surplus,
thus no imbalances were created. Banks could not possibly
expand liquidity in the face of collapsing reserves. Bank
runs were a real risk if they overdid the credit expansion.
