Just think about how much money Toshiba has thown into HD-DVD standard only to dump it in garbage in front of Blue-ray.. I think there'll be a lot of consolidation among Japanese technology companies, especially when the USD becomes the carry trade currency instead of Yen. After being involved in information technology for so long, i've found out the wage drop in engineers would force someone to re-think about the information industry. Cheap labor with brain can win a job. As to China, manufacturability requires organized discipline & passion without labor union & complaint. The Chinese women get it all...
