Postscript: FWIW ! I wonder who the institutions are who demand a "basket" that contains 30% of shorts of "unliked" common stocks. I wonder if their due-diligence is equal to the DD similar institutions gave to their purchases of ABCP. Can you think of any stocks that you would like to see shorted in such a basket ? I can't. But if that is what they demand, the money managers I'm sure will provide it and boast of providing Alpha. Hah ! (But to stand in opposition to them, may be just as hazardous as opposing the RE bubble)..
