Wow. I think you must be out of touch. To understand how much Wellesley College costs, you need to look at today's dollars. From their website, for the 2008-9 school year, here are the costs for tuition, room, board, fees, and meals for a Resident:

* $48,000 per year
* $192,000 for 4 years

That is a good comparison to what it cost back when she went if you put it in today's dollars. Without stretching the imagination, it is obvious to any reasonable person that her parents were rich to be able to afford to send her there.

The bottom line is that Hillary was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and she's been handed all the best things in life without having to work for them. She has no connection to what the rest of us have to go through to provide for our families and make a good living. Obama on the other hand knows exactly what it takes, because he's a self-made man all the way, including paying for his own college education.

That is an excellent point. Colleges and Universities were much more affordable $1,500 to $1,900 was in a reasonable range. This was in the mid-1960's to the early 1970's when HIllary went to Wellesley.

The wealthy of today with millions who can afford the exorbitant costs for Yale, Harvard, Wellesley were mostly nonexistent. Society was much more homogenous in income and lack of income. Thus the difference in cost between the elite ivy league schools and the state schools was much less.

A $1,000.00 to $2,000.00 was the norm for going to college or University.

Considering Obama's education:

If Obama had gone to a public school in the islands---Oahu---there is little likelihood he would have been accepted to the schools that he went to on the mainland of the USA. Public schools on Oahu did not offer the same high standard of education that Punahou offered.

I was living there at the time that Obama entered Punahou.
Being in education, I had a good understanding of the state of education on Oahu.

Punahou is a silver spoon school, regardless of how you were there as a student that was well known.

Obama's family worked at the Bank of Hawaii and for various international agencies when in Indonesia. By standards on the islands these were very prestigious jobs during the 1960's and 1970's.

True his grandparents worked during World War II in jobs supporting America's entry into World War II. That was precisely what the majority of Americans did-------airplane factories, ship yards, railroads, joining the military. Everyone working for a common goal.
