I suppose that was "widely held" among Germanic people rather than Japanese, Koreans, Chinese, Indian As I understand the history of the time, it was widely held among Japanese that they were superior to all others but that Germans were not all that inferior. Not sure how Germans ranked on the Japanese pecking order between Japanese and "subhumans" like Koreans, but probably higher than Chinese -- this is from the racial theories of the times, not my own opinion. And it was widely held among Europeans, not just Germans, that white people were vastly superior to any other color, the whiter the better. A lot of people still believe this, as I don't doubt you know.
