The WMO points out that the decade from 1998 to 2007 was the warmest on record. Since the beginning of the 20th Century, the global average surface temperature has risen by 0.74C.

'98 was a ST spike and dipped in 2000. The warming resumed in 2001 and the trend since has been up. Once la Nina goes away we'll see new all time highs. Nice spin on your part though and it's the BIG LIE promulgated by the denialists (who do more harm than good).
