FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)--Germany's trade and current account surpluses were wider than expected in February, data from the Federal Statistics Office showed Wednesday.

Germany's trade surplus fell to EUR16.9 billion in February from EUR17.1 billion in January, the Statistics Office said, but the surplus was above economists' forecasts.

The country's current account surplus rose to EUR15.4 billion in February from EUR14.7 billion in January, the Statistics Office said. The January current account data was revised down from a first estimate of EUR15.0 billion.

Economists in a Dow Jones Newswires survey forecast a trade surplus of EUR16.0 billion and a current account surplus of EUR13.1 billion.
