Intel's chairmen had good things to say about the chip business in an article yesterday. Their sales are holding up because of oveseas demand. If conditions improve in the semiconductor industry, Emcore would make a move just on that factor.

Anyone know how long these spin offs/IPO typically take? I think it's a long process, 6 months to a year.

<<question: if you're short and they spin off, do you end up short both?>>

Good question Bob......unfortunately I can't help you with an answer, that's one for a financial expert. My personal opinion would be to cover your short very soon as it looks like the downside is minimal at this point. It'll probably rise nicely now into the official announcement as folks jump on board for the spinoff shares :-)
