I always try to keep in mind that barring zero there is no best level of taxation. A certain amount of uncertainty causes people to realize taxes earlier than they might otherwise.

I still maintain that a gross taxation level in the 10% - 15% range is probably optimal for incentivizing producers and to avoid slowing growth by extracting excessive capital.

In the example I gave in my last post under excessive taxation you would see spending on things that would never actually succeed under a normal tax regime. For example one might choose to take compensation in the form of private jet trips instead of paying mostly tax on marginal income.
