"Now, Maliki demands the disbanding, and al-Sadr caves???"

Has he really? Caving would be to disband.

Telling the clerics to choose between him and Maliki is playing hardball.

Now, in Maliki's favor, Iran wants a strong central government in Iraq. Odds are, the clerics won't say anything. Which hardly counts as a win for Maliki. But, you never know.

Well said Inode. Another example of the mainstream media contradicting their own agendas when the truth can no longer be spun.

Only a few days ago, we were told by the liberal media (and of course, the lefties on this board) that Maliki basically surrendered to al-Sadr.

Now, Maliki demands the disbanding, and al-Sadr caves???

Apparently, reading comprehension is not your long suit:

"Sadr would seek rulings from Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, Iraq's most senior Shi'ite cleric, as well as senior Shi'ite clergy based in Iran, on whether to dissolve the Mehdi Army, and would obey their orders."
